Simren is an Associate at Margie Strub Construction Law LLP and has been a member of the team near its inception.
He represents a broad cohort of clients across the construction industry, including owners, developers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and sureties.
Simren maintains a wide practice area which includes providing both front-end contract drafting and negotiation advice, as well as providing assistance on the back-end which may include interim dispute resolution, litigation, or private arbitration.
Whether it’s being engaged for a simple residential matter or one of Canada’s largest construction and infrastructure projects, Simren’s approach is always aimed at being cost-effective and pragmatic.
Simren is also responsible for our firm’s student program and frequently acts as a guest speaker at various universities and private events.

Contracting:
- Drafted bespoke agreements and supplementary conditions for CCDCs for owners,
construction managers, consultants, general contractors, subcontractors, and material
suppliers. - Assisted in drafting an EPC contract for the design, construction, and management of a
battery energy storage system and facility in California, US.
- Drafted bespoke agreements and supplementary conditions for CCDCs for owners,
- Dispute Advisory:
- Counsel in an arbitration arising from a dispute related to the factory testing and system
integration of a microprocessor-based fixed block signalling system. - Counsel for a design-build LRT consortium, providing course-of-project claims and
dispute advice and services in respect of both upstream and downstream issues.
- Counsel in an arbitration arising from a dispute related to the factory testing and system
- Light rail line: Acting for a civil joint venture in respect of course-of-project and upstream claims
advice, and in respect of numerous subcontractor claims. - Subway line: Preparation of subcontract forms for civil joint venture on a major urban subway
project.
