EthanWilkinson

Ethan is an associate lawyer and professional engineer whose practice focuses on
construction disputes and project advice. He returned to the firm as an associate after
completing both a summer and articling term. His legal and engineering backgrounds
allow him to understand both the technical issues underlying a construction matter and
the broader contractual and commercial considerations affecting the client.

Before attending law school, Ethan worked for nearly four years at a national consulting
engineering firm. His practice focused on bridge rehabilitation and seismic retrofit
projects, where he performed structural analysis and design, and advised municipal
clients on infrastructure planning and capital programs. His project experience included
rehabilitation work for the City of Burnaby and the seismic retrofit of Vancouver’s
Cambie Bridge.

Ethan also acted as an owner’s engineer during the procurement and construction
phases of municipal infrastructure projects. In that role, he prepared construction
contracts, advised on tender strategy, evaluated bids, led pre-construction and site
meetings, responded to requests for information, assessed change orders, inspected
construction, and helped resolve disputes arising during the work. This experience gives
him a practical understanding of how design, procurement, contract administration, and
project documentation affect construction claims.

Ethan earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto and his Bachelor of
Engineering in Civil Engineering with Distinction from McGill University.

Ethan brings a practical, detail-oriented approach to his work and draws on his industry
experience to identify the technical and legal issues at the heart of a matter. Outside the
office, Ethan enjoys running, cycling, and skiing.
