Sharon acts for individuals and corporations across the construction pyramid, including owners, general contractors, and subcontractors.

Sharon has experience in many diverse areas of the law, including construction, real property, and corporate-commercial litigation. She has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, including the Ontario Court of Appeal, Ontario Divisional Court, and Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Some of Sharon’s representative work includes:

  • Successfully representing a general contractor in respect of the delivery up for cancellation of a lien bond posted for a contractor and opposed by the contractor’s subcontractor (Aqua Mechanical v Grascan Construction, 2017 ONSC 1028)
  • Successfully representing the defendant at trial and on appeal in a case involving a dispute about real property (Hornstein v Kats, 2020 ONSC 870 and 2021 ONCA 293)
  • Arguing a novel area relating to the standing of a bankruptcy trustee to commence a claim under family law legislation (Rusinek & Associates Inc. v Arachchilage, 2020 ONSC 1090, 150 O.R. (3d) and 2021 ONCA 112)

Prior to joining the firm, Sharon practiced for five years at a general civil litigation boutique firm in Toronto. She completed her articles by clerking at the Ontario Superior Court – East Region, where Sharon observed and assisted judges in all aspects of civil litigation.

In May 2018, Sharon joined the Faculty of Law at Bond University in Queensland, Australia as a Senior Semester Fellow, teaching Foundations of Canadian Law.

Sharon holds a JD from the University of Ottawa. During law school, Sharon participated in the Wilson Moot constitutional law mooting competition and was an active member of the Environmental Law Students Association. Sharon also participated in an exchange semester at the University of Kent, Faculty of Law (UK).

Sharon is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations, the Advocates’ Society, the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, Young Women in Law, and the Toronto Lawyers Association.
